M.A.C – March / April Roundup – Club news, Notices, Points of interest, Information for Members From the March Committee Meeting held on Monday 31st March 2025
- MEMBERSHIPS 2025 – Memberships renewal is now Closed. If you haven’t renewed by now you will need to reapply. As the dust settles our Membership Secretary will work through the numbers of renewals to work out how many new members can be admitted this year. Please be patient but you should hear shortly
- MARSKE RESERVOIR NIGHT SYNDICATE – The Committee unanimously voted to publish the Night Syndicate Membership list along with the current waiting list, this will show full transparency around the Night Syndicate, enabling members to see their position on the list – The list has been handed down from each Fisheries Officer / Membership Secretary over the years, and these are the lists we have to go by. This will be published in the near future.
- In relation to the night syndicate, two years ago the Committee voted to withdraw the “by merit not simply on a waiting list” rule and replaced it with a purely “waiting list” rule to avoid any possible undue influence on membership, in other words it is open to all members who wish to put there names down (see rule book or Website for rules).
- River Swale Ainderby – This stretch of the River is NO LONGER available to Club Members. This was our most expensive stretch and we contacted the owner with a view to a rent reduction more in line with the cost of other local stretches and unfortunately this could not be agreed. We still have stretches of the Swale at Skipton Bridge, Holme, Maunby and Gatenby along with stretches of the rivers Tees & Leven. Please see the Club Website for details.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR MAJOR WORKS – The work on the pegs at the Reservoir has now begun. Please bear with us, and the workmen whilst the work continues. The work is well overdue and will, when complete make the fishery a lot safer & more accessible.
- A new noticeboard has been placed in the car park, please keep checking for Club Notices. New signs have also been fitted to the gates – you can’t miss them.
- The fish are starting to wake up and regular catches of Carp to 22lb , Bream to 8/9lb and Tench to 7lb are being reported.
- MARSKE SPRING CHAMPS – The Marske Reservoir Spring Championship match is taking place on Sunday 13th April, the reservoir is closed from Midnight on Saturday 12th until 5pm on Sunday 13th April, members are welcome to fish after the match but due to Car Parking Issues please do not arrive before 5pm.
- HUTTON RUDBY – The restocking at Hutton Rudby took place with pictures put on the website & Facebook page. These fish are already being caught and Anglers are catching some nice mixed bags of Roach, Ide,Skimmers, Tench & Carp. Incase anyone is worried that the two male Scarecrows are bored a Lady Scarecrow will be arriving shortly!
- The Kissing Gate issue at Hutton Rudby is still ongoing, with the committee in contact with Fish Legal (our solicitors) on a regular basis.
- LOCKWOOD BECK – Investigative works on the dam wall at Scaling Dam have been completed with similar works now underway at Lockwood Beck some pegs along the dam wall may be unavailable at times whilst the work is being undertaken. The contractors at the site have advised that anglers are able to fish the dam wall but please take care around any equipment and to follow signage.
