- MEMBERSHIPS 2025 – Emails or Telephone calls have now been sent out/made to all prospective new members who have completed a membership application form. The Emails include instructions as to the next steps. If anyone hasn’t received an Email or Telephone call then please contact the Club Membership Secretary, Dale Conway – MAC-Membership@outlook.com or (01642) 899 288
- There are a limited number of places available before the club reaches full membership capacity for the year – 2025 MAC Membership application form can be downloaded/printed from the club website here – http://bit.ly/44xKvph
- MARSKE RESERVOIR NIGHT SYNDICATE – WAITING LIST REFORM – As advised in last months update and as voted for by members at the club AGM the committee is reforming the night syndicate waiting list – after several exhaustive discussions, the committee has decided the best way forward to a fair and transparent waiting list for the night syndicate is to start afresh with a new waiting list.
- As per the night syndicate rules Members who wish to be added to the waiting list must have been a member of the club for a minimum of 3 years and must be over the age of 18.
- Members (who fulfil the above criteria) who wish to put their Names on the list should send an Email to club Membership Secretary, Dale Conway – Mac-membership@outlook.com
- THE WAITING LIST WILL OPEN AT 9AM ON MONDAY 21st JULY 2025. Any Emails received prior to that time & date will be deleted, giving the club a definitive timeline for applications received. This we believe will allow full transparency around the waiting list which may have been lacking in the past.
- HOT WEATHER – Over the next few months whilst the water levels are low & the temperatures are up please be vigilant when fishing any of our venues. If you spot fish struggling or dead fish appearing please let our Fisheries Officers know ASAP – Contact details can be found in the club book. We are monitoring oxygen levels and have a pump on standby which can be used if necessary.
- RIVERS – Our River stretches are now open for Fishing, please be careful as there are areas of Giant Hogweed which can be dangerous if touched. The club is working with the Tees Rivers Trust to keep our waters safe and clear of Giant Hogweed – Spraying has taken place with further dates planned.
- Members are reminded that the two stretches of the River Swale at Ainderby & Gatenby are NOT currently available for MAC Members to Fish. Check out the maps page on the clubs website for help locating our stretches of river – https://middlesbroughanglingclub.co.uk/maps/
- RIVER MATCHES – With ongoing work to get rid of giant hogweed and clear pegs and access on the clubs river stretches as a priority – coupled with the very low and clear conditions – we will be revising the planned river matches for 2025 – dates for monthly sweepstake matches on the Middle Tees will be published on the club website & Facebook in due course.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR MAJOR WORKS CONTINUE – The pegs in the 30’s are still to be refurbished, we will be looking at these in the coming weeks – the venue will remain open while work is completed – members are asked to stay clear of areas where work is taking place and to keep paths clear when the workmen are on site.
- Other planned work including strengthening of the “Bivvy” pegs on the Dam wall and installation of the CCTV and general maintenance work will be communicated by the Fisheries Officer on the club Facebook page – no closures are planned at this time.
- HUTTON RUDBY MONDAY MATCHES – Matches continue every Monday afternoon alternating between the ponds at Hutton Rugby – New faces are welcome – Full details – https://bit.ly/41WmQ1V – Thanks to Budgie for looking after the matches and posting the results on the Facebook group.
- MARSKE RESERVOIR SEASONAL CHAMPS – The Summer Champs match takes place at the reservoir on Sunday 20th July – Places are limited – book on with Dale at Anglers Choice (01642) 899 288 – Full details – https://bit.ly/3G3OZv9
- REMINDERS TO MEMBERS:
- Anonymous posts on the Facebook page will not be approved by the page admins. We also ask for members of the group not to comment on posts anonymously.
- Only members of the club should be present on our venues. Any non-members are not covered by our insurance policy.
- Membership checks will continue on all our venues, not only by our Fisheries Officers, Committee Members and Bailiffs but also by the Environment Agency who have visited both Marske Reservoir & Hutton Rudby in the last few months to check our members hold EA Rod licences. If you are asked to show your Membership card or Rod Licence or maybe just asked to reel in to do a rig check please don’t be offended it is merely to ensure fish welfare and continued enjoyment of our venues for members.
- Please ensure all landing nets (& keep nets for matches), weigh slings and unhooking mats etc are dry and left out in the open air before fishing to avoid the spread of disease.
- Please ensure the gates are locked at all times – when opening the first gate at Marske res please don’t use the lock to keep the gate open – this causes damage to the lock.
- Please take all of your Rubbish/Litter/Cans home with you and dispose of them responsibly. Leaving Rubbish for somebody else to pick up will not be tolerated, if caught memberships will be revoked. LEAVE LITTER – LEAVE THE CLUB.
- If you have any concerns or issues with anything listed above or any other Club related matter please contact us on mac-secretary@outlook.com or mac-welfare@outlook.com
Lastly…………
Tight Lines to all our Members, Stay Safe & Thanks for reading this update.
